Believe In Me: This One’s A Winner

When Clay Driscoll arrived at a new high school basketball coaching job in the 60’s, he was told he would be coaching girls, not boys. At first he wanted to turn around and leave, but he decided to give it a try. What happens with the group of rural high school farm girls is truly an amazing turn of events.  This story is based on the true life of Jim Keith, who won a place in the Hall of Fame for what turned into a 35 year history of coaching girls’ basketball since he never went back to coaching boys. I give this film four twizzlers and highly recommend it.

Invincible: Rudy hits the NFL

Vince Papale is a long shot to ever play football in the NFL.  In fact when the film opens, he’s so down and out that there’s not much to look forward to except neighborhood games of football with old friends. Despite this, he manages to get onto the Philadelphia Eagles team after an open tryout. Papale (played by Mark Wahlberg) gives up his job as a bartender and takes his place on the field – for a three year career.  The story is true, the script is engaging and the acting is good.  This film will appeal to anyone who likes the sports drama genre along the lines of Rudy.  I loved it.  I give it four twizzlers.
